The Dana Point City Council-elect has selected William O. Talley as its first city manager.
Talley, former city manager of Anaheim and interim city manager of Mission Viejo, will become Dana Point city manager Jan. 1 when the community officially becomes Orange County’s 28th city.
Talley, 56, was selected from a field of 123 applicants, City Councilman-elect Michael Eggers said.
Talley has been serving as interim city manager since Mission Viejo incorporated in March. He said he had told the Mission Viejo City Council in September that he would not apply to become the city’s permanent city manager.
Before working in Mission Viejo, Talley was Anaheim city manager for 11 years and resigned the post with severance pay in August, 1987, after some City Council members threatened to fire him.
