14 Young Musicians Take Pasadena Prizes

The fourth annual Pasadena Instrumental Competition, sponsored by the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee has awarded $17,000 in prizes to 14 young local musicians. String and brass first-prize winners were violinist Sheryl Staples and tuba player Eric Fritz, while flutists Nili Newman and Diana Hoff shared the woodwind prize. L.A. Philharmonic assistant conductor David Alan Miller chaired the adjudicatory panel.
