The State : Church Halts Mass for Gays

Archbishop John Quinn has told a group of homosexual Roman Catholics that they no longer will be allowed to celebrate Mass in a San Francisco church after Dec. 18. The Archbishop said in delivering the eviction notice that the sexual preference of the group called Dignity runs contrary to the teachings of the church. Dignity has about 5,000 members nationwide and 350 in the Bay Area. A special Mass had been scheduled each Sunday at St. Boniface Church in the Tenderloin District. “The archbishop has his official position, and we have our moral position,” said Daniel Cota of Dignity.
