‘War and Remembrance’ Falls Below Estimates

One week into its mammoth miniseries “War and Remembrance,” ABC is not getting as big an audience as it had promised sponsors of the World War II drama, ratings from the A. C. Nielsen Co. showed Friday.
The first four installments of the program this week averaged a 19.4 rating--about one point below the figure that reportedly had been guaranteed advertisers. Part 1 last Sunday drew the largest viewership--about 19.7 million homes--while Part 4 on Thursday drew the smallest--about 15.2 million.
ABC could still make its projection if ratings improve for the next three chapters on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
