HONOLULU — With 55% of the precincts reporting, Michael S. Dukakis carried Hawaii’s four electoral votes with 58,563 votes, or 55%, over George Bush with 47,044 votes, or 45%.
Democrat Sen. Spark M. Matsunaga, 72, of Honolulu, retained his seat in a race against Republican Maria Hustace, 70, a Kaunakakai cattle rancher.
Rep. Patricia F. Saiki, a Republican, was elected to a second term in the House, beating Mary Bitterman, Democrat, a former director of the Voice of America. Rep. Daniel K. Akaka, a Democrat who ran unopposed, was reelected for a seventh term.
