Rescuing the Whales
In only a few weeks, military personnel, scientists, oil company executives, and environmentalists all came together to help three whales that were caught in a fatal situation. A rough estimate of $1 million was spent during the rescue effort.
How can these whales be more important than our own homeless people who are having problems “breathing” on their own? Is it a matter of guilt? These are the same whales that have been hunted to near extinction.
Or are our societal problems (homeless people, pollution, gang violence, etc.) less urgent, irrelevant, and not in need of $1 million and a great world effort?
Let’s get our priorities straight!
