Why can’t we learn to leave politics and ethnic-racial factors out of what is basically a business proposition, with an important environmental overlay, to be settled by the appropriate city departments in the same manner as a developer seeking to put up a project--with the resulting increased tax revenues accruing to benefit the city? Why is the matter not quashed right from the outset, at the top, by insistence that it be handled by our elected and appointed officials in proper process so it might not, at least, have gotten so far out of hand?
(And why, I suppose, am I so naive?)
