Newbury Park 31, Simi Valley 6--Quarterback Wayne Cook threw for 324 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead Newbury Park at home.
Cook, who completed 20 of 35 passes, connected with Brandon Sciumbato on a 7-yard scoring pass on the last play of the first quarter to give Newbury Park (2-5-1, 2-2) a lead it never relinquished.
The Panthers had a shutout until Simi Valley quarterback Eric Hale scampered 24 yards for a score with 33 seconds to play.
The Pioneers (0-8, 0-4) managed only 92 yards in offense and Hale was 1 of 12 for 14 yards.
