Beware of Mesa
After a recent overnight stay in Mesa, Ariz., I want to warn other visitors who plan to visit the area. Mesa has a convention-center complex complete with an outdoor amphitheater where rock concerts are often held. If your hotel is within six to eight blocks of the amphitheater you can depend on hearing noise at a loud, loud level until 11 p.m. (or later).
When I was there the music began at 6:30 p.m. (band tuning up) and ended about 11:30 p.m. Our hotel faced the amphitheater, but those who were in hotels six blocks away heard the music at the same volume. As Mesa probably receives much revenue from this music, it’s not likely that complaints will stop the concerts. However, the unsuspecting visitor does deserve to know.
