Joe Morrison, football coach at South Carolina, knew about suspected steroid use by his players as early as 1985, former strength coach Keith Kephart said.
Kephart, now the strength coach at Texas A&M;, said he told Morrison about the drug use after meeting with a group of linemen in 1985, and that Morrison told Kephart to handle the problem.
Kephart told The State newspaper of Columbia, S.C., that Morrison told him, “Keep me posted.”
A Sports Illustrated article by former lineman Tommy Chaikin said Gamecock players, doctors and coaches--including Morrison--knew about steroid use by Chaikin and others.
Morrison has denied any knowledge of steroid use by his players.
