CAMPAIGN ’88 : $66 Per Kennedy Vote

Patrick J. Kennedy, son of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, spent $66 for every vote he received in his successful bid for a Rhode Island legislative seat, campaign finance reports show.
Kennedy spent $87,694 to unseat state Rep. John M. Skeffington Jr. in last month’s Democratic primary. All but $5,904 of that sum came from him or his family, according to the report filed Wednesday with the state Board of Elections.
Skeffington has not filed his report. Robert Doorley, Skeffington’s campaign chairman, said the incumbent spent between $38,000 and $40,000.
