Gregory Peck and Yves Montand are co-hosting a special concert tonight by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at the ancient fortress of Masada in Israel. Peck said Wednesday he immediately agreed when asked to introduce the concert, conducted by former Los Angeles Philharmonic music director Zubin Mehta. “I have been to the top of Masada. I know what it means as a symbol of Israeli independence, freedom, courage, idealism,” the actor said on Israeli radio. About 4,000 people are expected at the orchestra’s performance of Gustav Mahler’s Second Symphony.
