Palestinian sources said Israeli soldiers shot dead an Arab demonstrator and wounded at least a dozen others during protests against the reported killing of four Palestinians in the West Bank the previous day. But an army spokesman, who confirmed several injuries from gunfire in clashes, said there were no reports of deaths Saturday. The army has confirmed two deaths in Friday’s violence in Nablus and said it is checking reports of the other two. Meanwhile, Palestinians in many West Bank cities observed a general strike to protest the deaths.
