Cal State Fullerton, the early leader in the Big West Conference race, will play host to preseason favorite Fresno State at 1 p.m. today at Santa Ana Stadium.
Fullerton, 2-3 overall and 2-0 in the league, is the only Big West team to have won two conference games, having defeated Nevada Las Vegas and the University of the Pacific. Two of Fullerton’s losses have been to top 20 teams--West Virginia and Wyoming.
Fresno State (3-2, 1-0), the only conference team with a winning record, beat New Mexico State in its only conference game. The Bulldogs’ losses were to Colorado and Oregon State.
Fullerton quarterback Dan Speltz is coming off his best game of the season, a 244-yard, 2-touchdown passing performance in a 35-16 loss to Wyoming. Tailbacks Michael Moore and Michael Pringle, who had been out with injuries, return to the lineup.
