Centerfold Controversy

It’s no wonder some women pose nude for magazines (“Why Famous Women Pose for Centerfolds,” Magazines column, Sept. 22). The answer is simple--greed and absence of self-respect.
What is a wonder is why the major media give such credence to this dubious “checkbook journalism.” Would Paula Parkinson be worth a photographer’s airbrush if she didn’t impugn Sen. Dan Quayle’s honor? Does former church secretary Jessica Hahn’s Playboy fame and fortune transform her into an expert on evangelical Christianity?
To ask the questions is to answer them.
