The United States is considering an increase in aid to non-Communist Cambodian resistance forces in order to limit the influence of the Khmer Rouge guerrillas and help prevent their return to power in Cambodia, the State Department said. A spokeswoman declined to verify a published report that the current $3.5 million a year might be increased to $10 million or $15 million. The money would go to two opposition groups, one led by Prince Norodom Sihanouk, the other by former Prime Minister Son Sann. The Communist Khmer Rouge are blamed for the deaths of more than a million Cambodians while they ruled the country in the late 1970s.
