Tire Blowout Stalls Dukakis’ Motorcade

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Michael S. Dukakis’ motorcade made an unscheduled stop today along the New Jersey Turnpike after the Democratic nominee’s limousine blew a tire.
The entire 18-car motorcade, traveling from New York City to Rutgers University, pulled over to the side of the road. Police directed traffic around the stalled motorcade while Dukakis switched to a backup vehicle and continued on.
