Local News in Brief : San Clemente : Store Clerk Charged in Girlfriend’s Death
A 22-year-old convenience store clerk from San Clemente was arrested Wednesday on involuntary manslaughter charges for the death of his girlfriend, who was found in a car outside her Dana Point home, police said.
Shawn Robert Geyer was arrested at his home Wednesday, more than a month after Taylor Jan Martin, 32, died from a head injury, Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said.
Martin was discovered at 7 a.m. on Aug. 17 inside a car near her Dana Point home by a passer-by who notified a neighbor that a woman appeared to need medical help. An autopsy revealed that she died from a head injury, Olson said.
Investigators discovered that Martin had been out with Geyer the night before her body was found.
“Our follow-up investigation showed that the two of them had had an altercation the evening or morning before she was found in the car. . . . (Investigators) centered on him due to information we had come up with during the course of the investigation.”
Geyer is scheduled to be arraigned today, Olson said.
