Vegetable Packing Firm to Close Nov. 1

SALINAS, Calif. — Merit Packing Co. of Salinas has announced that it will shut down Nov. 1 because of three straight below-average years in its vegetable growing and shipping business.
Sales manager Alec Leach explained that business “has been good but it hasn’t been that good.”
