SEOUL — Hungarian weightlifter Andor Szanyi, a silver medalist in the 100 kg (220 pound) category, today joined sprint star Ben Johnson and six other athletes on a lengthening list of Olympians disgraced for taking banned drugs.
Miklos Revesz of the Hungarian Olympic Committee said Hungary’s entire 10-man weightlifting team had been withdrawn from the Games and sent home. Bulgaria pulled out its weightlifting team four days ago after two gold medalists failed doping tests.
