Hollywood heartthrob Patrick Swayze is still keeping his distance from a “Dirty Dancing” sequel. But he has agreed to write and perform a new song in “Road House,” a United Artists film that he recently finished shooting here. The film also features a live on-camera performance by the Cruzados, who do a new song called “Don’t Throw Stones”. . . . The Pet Shop Boys were recently in the studio with Dusty Springfield, doing the title song for “Scandal,” a new British film starring Brigitte Fonda and John Heard. Trevor Horn produced the track. . . . The Sugarcubes have re-recorded their “Birthday” single with the Jesus & Mary Chain--it’s just out in England. . . . Don’t miss the new Fetchin’ Bones CD of “Galaxy,” which will feature six bonus tracks, including a cover of Rick James’ “Super Freak”. . . . Jules Shear says his current single, “If We Never Meet Again,” was actually written for the recent film, “Permanent Record,” but was in a scene cut from the film--so he salvaged it for his album. . . . The Alarm returns with “Electric Folklore,” a six-song live EP recorded in Boston earlier this year. . . . I.R.S. Records has signed Black Sabbath. . . . Richard Thompson’s new album, “Amnesia,” is due out Oct. 4. . . . And our Outstanding Artist Moniker of the Month goes to the new psycho-billy performer Elvis Hitler, whose new album is aptly called “Disgraceland.”
