Biondi’s Disney Ad Canceled
SEOUL, South Korea — A Disney advertisement taped by Matt Biondi moments after winning the Olympic 100-meter freestyle gold medal was shelved today because of an International Olympic Committee protest over its filming.
A camera crew taped Biondi, whose five medals are the most of any Seoul competitor, saying, “I’m going to Disneyland” and “I’m going to Disney World,” after his triumph Thursday. The filming violated an IOC rule against such advertisements being made at Olympic competition sites. Biondi said today he was aware the filming might be improper but was following the advice of his agent.
