Circuit City Stores Inc.’s second-quarter profit jumped 54% from a year ago to $16.6 million. Sales totaled $396.1 million, up 37%. The Richmond, Va.-based electronics and appliance retailer said the results reflect a strong performance in all business areas and includes expansion of its Superstore operations.
