Robert F. Ellis has been named president of Austron Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Datum Inc., Anaheim. He succeeds James D. Echols, founder of Austron, who left when Datum acquired the company in June. Ellis had previously been senior vice president, marketing, at Austron. He joined the company in 1975 as marketing manager and was elected vice president in 1978, senior vice president in 1980 and a director in 1981. Austron, with headquarters in Austin, Tex., designs and manufactures precision frequency products and timing instrumentation for military, industrial, space and commercial applications. Its timing manufacturing operations are in Anaheim.
