Los Angeles Traffic Problems
I’m bewildered that a poll can show that L.A. commuters are not clamoring for relief (Part I, Aug. 25). As a daily commuter, I’ve noticed that traffic has worsened markedly in the last two years. It’s a subject frequently discussed and is a constant source of frustration to everyone I meet.
It’s not fear of earthquakes that cause people to leave L.A.--it’s commuter stress. And friends of mine who have already left the area say that they’ll never come back and face our traffic again. Easing the traffic problems should be very high on L.A.’s priority list, and I would gladly pay higher taxes so that I could spend more time with my family and friends and less time sitting in traffic feeling my blood pressure go up.
