Rich Ingold ran for one touchdown and threw for 121 yards, and Steve Griffin had six receptions and two interceptions to lead the Detroit Drive to a 24-13 win over the Chicago Bruisers Saturday night in ArenaBowl ‘88, the championship game of the Arena Indoor Football League.

The Detroit defense held Chicago quarterback Ben Bennett in check to give coach Tim Marcum his second title in as many years. Last year, Marcum led the now-defunct Denver Dynamite to a title in the league’s first season.

Detroit, a first-year franchise that lost both its regular-season games to Chicago, finished the season 11-3. The Bruisers, who had the best record in the six-team league, finished 11-2-1.
