Unfavorite Son?

When journalists attend an Aug. 8 L.A. press conference touting NBC’s six-hour mini-series “Favorite Son” they won’t get actor--and star--Robert Loggia. Loggia, 58, tells us the network didn’t invite him to the press gig--while it did ask youthful co-stars Harry Hamlin and Linda Kozlowski. (In the thriller, scheduled for late October, Loggia plays an FBI agent caught in a scenario of political assassination and media manipulation in D.C.)

“It’s unbelievably thick-headed in terms of the material,” Loggia said of the snub. His character, he fumed, is “the hero of the show.” Also: “I didn’t get invited to do the first publicity photos. They cast me first and then they make me feel like I’ve been dumped in the advertising because I’m too old for their demographics.”

Loggia complained to network execs, and he will consequently be featured more prominently in promotion materials.

Said a rep for NBC: “Now Loggia’s image will be the same size as Hamlin and Kozlowski’s in the printed ads. It’s ironic that this boils down to how big an actor’s head will be in a newspaper ad.”
