Police are still searching for Angelica Smith, a cocaine-addicted infant who was taken from a hospital by her mother.
The 12-day-old girl is recovering from the addiction, which she acquired before birth from her mother, Detective Chico Gonzalez said Monday.
The infant’s mother, Renita Smith, who is also sought, took her baby from Paradise Valley Hospital Friday afternoon, Gonzalez said. The baby was being given phenobarbital to combat the dependency and may be in severe danger from withdrawal, he said.
