A 17-year-old East San Diego girl who apparently was abducted while walking to summer school was found beaten to death Tuesday in a vacant house three blocks from her home.
Police said the body of Melissa Darlene Orchulli was found at 8:30 a.m. by a man who was interested in renting the house, which is in the 3800 block of Euclid Avenue. The unidentified man found the rear door open and discovered the girl’s body lying in a hallway. A police spokeswoman said she had been beaten on the head.
Homicide investigators said that Orchulli left her home about 7 a.m. for classes at Crawford High School. Police speculate that she was forced into the vacant house and killed there.
There are no suspects in custody and police spent most of the day searching the house and the area for clues.
