Jury selection was completed in the fraud and perjury trial in Phoenix of former Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham, removed from office nearly two months ago by a Senate court of impeachment. Mecham and his brother, Willard, are charged with violating state financial disclosure laws for allegedly concealing a $350,000 campaign loan from Tempe, Ariz., developer and attorney Barry Wolfson. Jury selection, which had been expected to last 10 days, was completed exactly a week after the May 19 start of the trial.
