Medical tests showed former Philippines President Ferdinand E. Marcos did not suffer a heart attack, and the Philippine consul accused the hospitalized Marcos of faking chest pains to gain sympathy in his homeland. “I think these are charades,” Tomas Gomez, the consul in Honolulu, said. Marcos’ physician, Dr. Derek Pang, ruled out a heart attack as the cause of the discomfort and ordered Marcos to undergo tests today for a possible lung ailment, Marcos spokesman Gemmo Trinidad said. Marcos, 70, was listed in guarded condition in the intensive care unit after being admitted Tuesday night, St. Francis Medical Center spokeswoman Cheryl Yoshina said.
