El Camino’s Landreaux Named UCLA Assistant
Paul Landreaux, who led El Camino College of Torrance to three state community college basketball championships during nine seasons as head coach, has been named an assistant coach at UCLA, Coach Jim Harrick announced Tuesday.
Last season, Landreaux, 44, guided the Warriors to a 33-3 record and their third state title of the 1980s. Seven of the players from that team have signed letters of intent to attend National Collegiate Athletic Assn. Division I schools next season.
Landreaux’s El Camino teams compiled a 278-53 record and won at least 20 games in all nine seasons. Only Nevada Las Vegas’ Jerry Tarkanian, who won four state titles at Pasadena and Riverside city colleges, has won more state basketball titles than Landreaux.
