Kristen Schertzer, a senior track standout at Woodbridge High School, signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of California in the fall.
Schertzer, who specializes in the 300-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash, was part of the Warriors’ 1,600-meter relay team that placed fourth in the state track and field finals last year.
At the Southern Section 2-A track and field preliminaries on Friday, Schertzer qualified in four events: 300-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, 400-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay. She will compete in each of those events Saturday in the Southern Section championships at Cerritos College.
The women’s team at Cal placed 11th last year in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. track and field championships.
