More than 100 Communist rebels, some shooting flaming arrows, raided a government outpost in the northern Philippines in a clash that left 13 people dead, the military said. Five soldiers and eight New People’s Army guerrillas died in the six-hour gun battle in Paracelis, 190 miles north of Manila, it said. On the Bicol Peninsula on the southern tip of Luzon Island, soldiers killed five guerrillas and wounded two in two separate military offensives, a military report said.
