American Airlines will challenge British Airways in England’s High Court over what it contends are anti-competitive practices, American said. American claims that BA has imposed trade barriers to stop American from selling its giant Sabre computer reservation system in Britain. European airlines have formed two main consortiums, Galileo and Amadeus, to set up their own multinational reservation systems. A spokesman for American said refusal by BA to let the U.S. carrier issue BA tickets in Britain effectively barred American Airlines from selling Sabre in Britain.
