Local News in Brief : Garden Grove : Man Robbed, Run Over 3 Times; Trio Arrested
Three men have been arrested in the death of a Garden Grove man who was robbed at gunpoint and then run over three times by the suspects’ car, Garden Grove police said.
Javier G. Sarabia, 23, was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Three men, Ernest J. Bustos, 20, of Garden Grove; Sergio Sanchez, 18, of Santa Ana, and Dallas K. Carter, 18, of Costa Mesa, were later arrested on suspicion of robbery and murder.
For reasons not entirely clear, police said, the three, in a car, had begun following Sarabia, who also was driving, on West Street. When he turned west onto Orangewood Avenue and stopped at the Morgan Lane intersection, they pulled up next to him and robbed him at gunpoint, officers allege.
The men then, according to police investigators, hit Sarabia with their car, made a U-turn and ran over him again, then made another U-turn and ran over him a third time. Officers stopped the car a short time later after receiving a description of it from a witness.
