Mission Beach Club Wins Rugby Title

John Phillips scored 10 points and Charlie Montgomery had 7 as the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club defeated Milwaukee, 29-12, to win the U.S. Football Union Club National rugby championship Sunday at Albany, New York.
It was the first national title for OMBAC, which defeated Denver, 29-13, Saturday to advance to the final.
Kevin Higgins, John Lee and Mike Johnson each scored a try (four points) for OMBAC.
Washington defeated Denver, 33-0, to finish third.
DIVING
Kristen Walls, a junior at Monte Vista High School, won the 3-meter springboard diving competition at the Junior Olympic Irvine Invitational.
Walls scored 399.80 points, just ahead of New Zealand Junior Olympic national champion Tonya Patterson, who scored 396.50.
