Chapman Opens NCAA Tennis Against Ferris

Defending national champion Chapman College will play Ferris State today in the quarterfinals of the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. Division II tennis tournament at 9 a.m. at Sonoma State.
Chapman (17-12), which has won two of the last three Division II national title, is seeded third. Ferris State (10-4) is unseeded.
In other quarterfinal matches today: No. 1-seeded Hampton (27-0) plays Southern Illinois-Edwardsville; No. 2-seeded Rollins (19-4) plays UC Riverside (19-9); and No. 4-seeded Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (16-8) plays Southwest Baptist (18-7).
