Longing to Return
Many thanks to Jennifer Merin’s article on the many shops on Ile St. Louis, Paris (April 24). It made us long for a return visit. Three years ago we chose that area for our first visit to Paris, staying at the small, inexpensive Hotel Saint-Louis, which was Jerry Hulse’s recommendation.
Besides the shops Merin mentioned, we found Brasserie de Ile Saint Louis a fine place for omelets. Onion soup and pastries were our choice at Tabac de Lutitia. More elegant fare was served at the Monte Carlo and for crepes, La Crepe Saint-Louis. The bank, for cashing traveler’s checks and the post office, for calling home cheaper than at the hotel, were all easy to find. Ile St. Louis is truly an oasis in the lovely city of Paris.
