Montejano Leads SDSU to Win
Shortstop Steve Montejano was 2 for 3 and hit a solo home run in the fifth inning Saturday night as San Diego State defeated the University of Hawaii, 6-3, in the first game of a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader at Aloha Stadium.
SDSU scored three runs in the second inning, with three singles and an error, to take a 3-1 lead. The Aztecs never trailed after that.
John Marshall (9-2) went the distance for the win. SDSU will end the four-game series with Hawaii with a single game tonight.
The Aztecs are 43-15-1 overall and 20-4 in the WAC. Hawaii is 39-18-1 and 20-5-1.
On Friday night, the Aztecs snapped a 16-game regular-season losing streak in Hawaii with a 5-4 victory.
John Anderson was 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Eric Christopherson was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Montejano was 3 for 4. Rob Brown (9-3) went the distance for the win.
