Jeff Watts Resigns as Santa Ana Coach
Jeff Watts has resigned as coach of the Santa Ana High School girls’ basketball team, he announced Friday.
Watts, who coached the boys’ team at Santa Ana from 1975-81, took over the girls’ program--which had won just one game in two years--before the 1986-87 season.
His first season, the team went 4-16. Last season, the Saints were 11-8 and made the Southern Section 4-A playoffs for the first time.
Watts, 40, also is an assistant on the Fullerton College men’s basketball team. He will continue to coach at Fullerton and to teach at Santa Ana.
A replacement has not been named.
