2 Gunmen Dead in Motel Siege

PORTLAND, Ore. —  Two gunmen who held a police officer hostage in a motel room for more than eight hours were found dead today after television pictures from a remote-controlled robot showed one of the suspects lying motionless, police said.

After looking at the video pictures, police stormed the room and found the second body, police spokesman Henry Groepper said. It was not immediately known how the two men died. However, the officer taken hostage said he believed he wounded one of the men when he grabbed a gun in the room and began firing while making his escape.
