Three area high school seniors have won college-sponsored scholarships in the 32nd annual Merit Program of the National Merit Scholarship Corp.
Trevor A. White of La Canada High School received a Merit Scholarship from Brigham Young University, Shane H. Sauby of Crescenta Valley High School and Erin J. Coyl of Eagle Rock High School were awarded Merit Scholarships from Harvey Mudd College.
The three students were chosen from among Merit Program finalists who reported plans to attend the sponsor colleges. Officials of the institutions selected recipients and determined their stipend amounts between $1,000 and $8,000 over the four years of undergraduate study at the sponsoring college or university.
Finalists were chosen from a pool of 15,000 national semi-finalists representing the top 0.5% of each state’s high school graduating class.
