3 Rs Roll On, Strike or No, District Insists
Students at eight Huntington Beach middle and elementary schools may not like it, but when teachers go on strike there Wednesday, classes are expected to go on as usual.
In preparation for the scheduled strike by teachers at the Huntington Beach City School District, administration officials have arranged for more than 180 substitute teachers and several parents to take over classes.
“We are going to have a regular program that day,” Assistant Supt. Ron Brown said. “We are prepared for every eventuality.”
The teachers on strike will be warned that one day’s pay will be docked from their paycheck and that a letter describing their actions will be placed in their personnel file, Brown said.
