A high school football star remained jailed after his weekend arrest in connection with an attack that left another teen-ager blind in one eye, authorities said.
Marc Jones, 18, a standout running back at Vista High School, was taken into custody after a lengthy investigation, San Diego County sheriff’s deputies said.
Jones remained jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Sheriff’s Detective Mike Shelby said the assault occurred in a Vista home in August. Jones allegedly punched the victim, whose name was withheld because of his age, in the head.
In a separate incident, Jones and a classmate are accused of beating a Vista-area minor in March, Shelby said.
