TV No-Shows

I don’t usually get up in arms about networks dropping low-rated shows from their lineups. Most of them deserve cancellation.
But if “A Year in the Life” gets axed, it will be a mistake of epic proportions.
Easily the best and most rewarding new NBC show, it boasts some of the finest TV acting in years. All of its elements are exemplary: the writing (painfully accurate dramatic moments and humor funnier than on most sitcoms), the terrific photography and Elizabeth Swados’ affecting music.
When will the networks realize that viewership cannot be accurately gauged by this abhorrent Nielsen rating system?
