TV No-Shows

Where have all the television shows gone (“Where Have All the Viewers Gone?,” by Peggy Ziegler, May 1)?

What happened to “Jake and the Fatman” and “J.J. Starbuck”? They changed time slots! We cannot enjoy “appointment television” if the networks change the time slot on us every two or three weeks.

Television viewing has changed because the networks have so drastically changed their habits. In days of old, programs were never “moved.” A viewer knew that “Bonanza” would be on every Sunday night at 8.

Of the many new shows that were canceled after only four to six weeks, most of them died because the public never knew they were on. For many of these, the networks themselves must take the blame, for they were never properly introduced to the public, via commercials and printed ads.

Shame on the networks, for they have slit their own throats.
