The University of Kentucky filed a petition in U.S. District Court seeking sworn testimony from Emery Air Freight Corp. employees involved in the NCAA investigation of the recruitment of Chris Mills, stating it wanted “to preserve important testimony which might otherwise be lost.”
James Park, special counsel conducting an investigation for the school, filed the petition but would not comment on the action.
It was reported that Emery employees found $1,000 in cash inside a shipping envelope sent from Kentucky assistant Dwane Casey to Claud Mills, father of the Fairfax High School basketball star. The package, according to Emery employees, inadvertently opened during shipping.
The court has 20 days to rule on the petition.
