College Spring Sports : Detweiler Hits Record Shot in Moorpark Win
Laura Detweiler hit a two-run homer to set a single-season school record for home runs and lead the Moorpark College softball team to a 9-0 victory over Canyons on Wednesday in a Western State Conference game at Moorpark.
Detweiler’s sixth homer broke the previous record of five set by Judy Staab in 1980.
The win was Moorpark’s 33rd conference victory in a row at home and improved the Lady Raiders to 25-10-1, 12-0 in conference play.
Malia Ouzts was 4 for 4 with a double for Moorpark.
BASEBALL
Azusa Pacific 8-16, Cal Lutheran 4-3--The Kingsmen outhit Azusa Pacific, 19-17, but were swept in the NAIA District 3 doubleheader at Azusa Pacific.
Dan Weis doubled and tripled in the first game and Tom Bonds was 3 for 4 in the second game for Cal Lutheran (20-22, 12-10).
