Avalon officials plan to reevaluate the city’s emergency preparedness plan after a weekend windstorm that stranded 1,400 visitors on Santa Catalina Island.
City Council members reported at a special meeting Monday that the city did not have enough cots or blankets for those forced to spend Saturday night at the Casino and the Avalon School gymnasium.
Council members also discussed the city’s 1988-89 budget, listing as high priorities maintaining and improving beaches, reconstructing a main sewer line, and lighting and landscaping Crescent Avenue and Casino Walkway.
